How was it created?
The founder of Nurse Log Book is an RN with a Master's Degree in Health Care Administration. After pushing paperwork in executive positions as a Director of Nursing (DON), she decided it was time to go back and spend more face-to-face time with patients on the field. While on the road doing home health care skilled nurse visits, she constantly tried to figure out ways to make the job more efficient. This nurse had a little notebook, which was used to take notes on her patients during her daily nurse visit route.
She thought: why write the same information over and over? Couldn’t I save time if I didn’t have to do that? How can I make this better? After hundreds of visits, she came up with a wonderful outline to medically document a skilled nursing patient visit without the need of lugging around a heavy laptop. She outlined the notebook in a standardized manner to jot down critical information on patients like blood pressure, pulse, temperature, blood sugar, and more. Then she thought, well, if this visit outline (cheat sheet) can help me, then it can definitely help other visiting nurses as well.
WHOLLA! That’s when NURSE LOG BOOK was born.
